Integrative and adjunct strategies may improve outcomes. Sleep hygiene, regular aerobic exercise, and mindfulness-based interventions can reduce arousal and improve emotion regulation. Addressing avoidance behaviors, reducing caffeine and other stimulants, and ensuring consistent routine support physiological stabilization. In complex or treatment-resistant cases, specialty evaluation may consider combined therapy, medication optimization, or augmentation strategies.
Prognosis depends on early recognition, consistent treatment engagement, and management of comorbidities. Anxiety disorders are often chronic when untreated, but many individuals achieve meaningful symptom reduction and functional recovery with appropriate therapy. If symptoms are persistent, distressing, or associated with safety risks, clinicians recommend timely assessment by mental health professionals and, when indicated, coordination with primary care.
