Evidence-based stress management commonly combines several components: (1) cognitive strategies (reappraisal, problem-focused coping); (2) behavioral strategies (regular aerobic exercise, which improves autonomic balance and reduces baseline stress reactivity); (3) mindfulness and relaxation techniques (slow diaphragmatic breathing, progressive muscle relaxation); and (4) social and supportive interventions (therapy, support groups, relational skills training). Red flags include panic attacks, suicidal ideation, substance misuse, severe insomnia, or significant functional decline. Clinicians may use validated screening tools (e.g., GAD-7 for anxiety) and consider differential diagnoses including thyroid disease, anemia, medication side effects, or endocrine dysregulation.

Ultimately, stress comes and goes, and recovery is supported by both internal skills and external safety.
