Importantly, stress responses in athletic contexts are not inherently harmful; moderate arousal can enhance alertness and motivation. The risk arises when uncertainty remains chronic, feedback is confusing, and coping strategies do not recalibrate threat appraisal. Clear role communication, consistent tactical language, and supportive feedback loops help athletes build stable mental models and restore confidence.
