Clinicians recommend escalation of care when anxiety causes functional impairment, leads to panic attacks, triggers suicidal ideation, or coincides with severe insomnia or substance misuse. Reducing the biological stress load (sleep, exercise, caffeine moderation) and interrupting cognitive-rumination cycles are central. Over time, the stress system can recalibrate when uncertainty becomes manageable and perceived threat decreases.
