For panic disorder, treatment often includes longer-term maintenance of effective agents due to relapse risk.
Prognosis varies by diagnosis and comorbidity. Many patients improve substantially with sustained evidence-based care, particularly when therapy addresses avoidance patterns and maladaptive beliefs. Lifestyle interventions—regular physical activity, sleep hygiene, and reduction of caffeine or stimulants—can complement treatment by lowering physiological arousal and improving resilience.
In practice, clinicians emphasize ongoing monitoring, treatment adherence, and collaborative goal setting.
