Delmar Man Faces Multiple Charges After High-Speed Chase in Sussex County

A 25-year-old Delmar man, Marc A. Brown, is now facing charges from multiple police agencies after a days-long investigation that spanned across Sussex County and culminated in a high-speed chase. The incident began on February 6th, when Brown fled from a traffic stop initiated by South Bethany Beach Police. He was later spotted by Bethany Beach Police driving through a median strip north of State Route 26, causing significant damage to town property.

The following day, February 7th, a vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the previous incidents once again fled from South Bethany Police during a traffic stop that involved numerous violations. The vehicle continued into Bethany Beach in an unsafe manner, causing further damage to town property. Despite several attempts to locate the vehicle throughout the day, police were unsuccessful.

As the investigation progressed, police discovered that the vehicle had been sold a week prior in Harrington to an unknown male through Cash App. Investigators were able to obtain Ring doorbell footage of the suspect on the day of the vehicle purchase, which helped in identifying the individual.

On February 12th, a Bethany Beach Police sergeant spotted the vehicle while patrolling local developments. The vehicle had been backed into dense shrubbery on Hudson Avenue, and the sergeant noticed a subject matching the description seen in the Ring doorbell footage working on construction in a neighboring residence.

Shortly after, the subject entered the vehicle and fled westbound on State Route 26 at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. Ocean View Police located the vehicle minutes later near Windmill Drive and initiated a pursuit. The chase came to an end when the Dagsboro Police Department deployed a tire deflation device, stopping the vehicle.

Brown was subsequently arrested by Delaware State Police troopers and Ocean View Police officers in the area of Dagsboro Road and Route 113, just south of Millsboro. He had eight felony warrants out of Sussex County Superior Court and one warrant from the Department of Corrections.

This incident highlights the collaborative efforts of multiple police agencies in Sussex County and serves as a reminder of the importance of public safety. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
