Man Dragged by Vehicle During Carjacking at Bank of America in Adelanto
ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A shocking incident unfolded at the Bank of America in Adelanto, as a man was dragged by his own vehicle during a carjacking. The incident occurred on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at approximately 4:00 pm.
Deputy A. Schwingel was conducting an area check in the 14200 block of US Highway 395 when he witnessed a female adult, later identified as Jessi Betts, enter the driver’s seat of a vehicle that did not belong to her. In a brave attempt to stop her, the owner tried to pull Betts out of his vehicle. However, she quickly shut the door, trapping his arm inside and pinning him against the car. Ignoring his pleas, Betts accelerated the vehicle at a high rate of speed, dragging the helpless victim along.
The terrifying ordeal finally came to an end when Betts crashed the stolen vehicle into a fire hydrant and fence. She then attempted to flee on foot, but Deputy Schwingel swiftly caught up with her. In a disturbing turn of events, Betts threw herself onto the ground and began repeatedly slamming her head onto the cement. Concerned for her safety, Deputy Schwingel detained Betts and called for medical assistance.
Medical personnel arrived at the scene and provided aid to both Betts and the victim. A warrant has been issued for Betts’ arrest, which will be served upon her release from the hospital.
