A Dale City man, accused of beating his father to death, was apprehended by a police K9 after advancing on officers and grabbing one’s vest. The suspect was charged with murder and assault.
A tragic incident unfolded in Dale City on Monday when a 19-year-old man allegedly beat his father to death. The shocking incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, prompting a response from local law enforcement officers. When the officers arrived at the scene, they were confronted by a disturbing sight – the suspect, identified as Juan Pina-Ortiz, was unclothed and actively assaulting his father.
According to Prince William County police Lt. Jonathan Perok, officers attempted to intervene and apprehend Pina-Ortiz. However, he initially ignored their commands and continued to assault his father. After a brief retreat into the house, the suspect reemerged and advanced towards the officers in an agitated state. In a desperate attempt to subdue him, one of the officers deployed a police K9 who promptly apprehended the suspect.
Although the suspect sustained minor injuries during the altercation, he was treated at a local hospital before being released into police custody. Tragically, his father, Juan Pina-Recendiz, succumbed to the injuries inflicted upon him during the violent altercation. The investigation also revealed that Pina-Ortiz had assaulted his 52-year-old mother.
In light of these horrifying events, Pina-Ortiz now faces several charges, including murder, assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, and domestic assault and battery. He is currently being held without bond at the Prince William-Manassas regional jail.
