The accident took place around 4:30 pm, according to the authorities. The young girls, identified as Sakshi and Shraddha, sadly passed away at the scene. Their mother, Kiran Jha, aged 38, suffered critical injuries, while their father, Satish Kumar Harinarayan Jha, aged 40, sustained minor injuries.
Senior Inspector Shailesh Sankhe, who is in charge of the Yerawada traffic division, provided more details about the incident. He stated, “The accident occurred shortly after the signal turned green for vehicles traveling from the Airport towards Bhosari. The fuel tanker collided with the bike from the side. It is suspected that the two girls died instantly. Their parents were immediately rushed to Sassoon General Hospital for medical treatment.”
Preliminary investigations suggest that the tanker driver, identified as Pramod Kumar Yadav, was responsible for the accident due to negligent driving. The police have launched a formal probe into the incident, and Yadav has been placed under arrest. Furthermore, his vehicle has been confiscated as part of the investigation.
