A 33-year-old man was killed in a road accident in Mayur Vihar, Delhi. The man collided with a scooter traveling on the wrong side before being crushed by a speeding bus. The scooter rider and bus driver are being sought by the police.
A tragic accident in east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar claimed the life of a 33-year-old man on Saturday night. The incident involved two collisions, first with a scooter coming from the wrong side and then with a speeding bus. Police have booked the scooter rider and the bus driver and are currently searching for them.
Initial investigations suggest that the man was riding a motorcycle when he collided with the scooter, which was being driven on the wrong carriageway. The impact threw the man off his bike and towards the central verge, where he was then crushed by the speeding bus that was approaching from behind.
The police were alerted about the accident at around 11:30 pm and arrived at the scene promptly. The victim, identified as Parveen Kumar, was found lying in a pool of blood and was immediately rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, he was declared dead upon arrival.
An FIR has been registered against the scooter rider and the bus driver under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code. The complaint was filed by Kumar’s brother, who also witnessed the accident.
According to Kumar’s brother, Pawan, who was riding on another bike ahead of his brother, he heard the screeching of tires and the noise of the collision. He rushed to help his brother, but a speeding Volvo bus ran over him, crushing his head. Pawan attempted to note down the bus’s number, but it was being driven in a zigzag manner, making it difficult to do so.
The scooter rider also fled the scene, according to Pawan. Parveen Kumar, originally from Uttar Pradesh, worked as a shopkeeper and was living in the city with his family. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
