Tragedy Strikes in North Nazimabad

In a tragic turn of events, a man lost his life and four others were injured when a portion of a three-storey building collapsed in North Nazimabad late on Monday night. The incident occurred at Jan Plaza in Block K, where the victims were sitting outside shops located on the ground floor.

A Rescue-1122 official reported that the balcony of a third-floor apartment collapsed, causing debris to hit five men who were present outside a medical store. The injured individuals were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where one of them, identified as Munnan Baig, 50, was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Old Building Raises Safety Concerns

Upon inspection by a team from the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), it was discovered that the building was very old and had developed cracks. As a result, the SBCA sealed shops on the ground floor and declared the building “unworthy of living”. The residents were safely evacuated from the premises.

Police Investigation Underway

Central SSP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqui stated that a case would be registered by the police based on a complaint from the victim’s family. The authorities are awaiting their arrival at the police station after the burial of the deceased.

Tragic Incidents Continue

In a separate incident, a young security guard at a hospital in Surjani Town took his own life by shooting himself while talking to a friend on his cell phone. The guard, identified as Sameer Ibrahim, 18, was found dead near POB Eye Hospital in Sector-7-B.

Meanwhile, in another distressing event, a 31-year-old man attempted suicide by shooting himself at a football ground in Ali Mohammed Goth. Another individual, Abdul Hakeem, 20, suffered bullet wounds while trying to intervene. Both men were rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.

These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the importance of building safety and mental health awareness in our communities.
