The Tragic Incident on Wayside Drive

On a fateful evening, tragedy struck the quiet neighbourhood of Wayside Drive in Turlock, where a senseless act of violence claimed the life of a young man. The Turlock Police Department was called to the 700 block of Wayside Drive just before 7 p.m. on April 16, following reports of a shooting. What they encountered was a scene of chaos and despair.

The Victims

Two individuals were found at the scene, both suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim, a male adult, was quickly rushed to a nearby Modesto hospital with multiple injuries to his arm. Fortunately, his wounds were deemed non-life-threatening. However, the second victim, identified as Amado “Dominic” Escobedo III, a 19-year-old from Ceres, was not as fortunate. Despite the best efforts of first responders, Escobedo succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Investigation

Turlock Police detectives wasted no time in taking charge of the investigation. Through meticulous efforts, they were able to ascertain that the individuals involved in the tragic incident were known to each other. Following a brief altercation, the situation escalated into a fatal shooting. It was a heartbreaking turn of events that left a community in shock.

The Arrest

After days of tireless investigation, a breakthrough was made in the case. A 17-year-old male from Turlock was identified as the suspect in the shooting. On a sombre Monday, detectives apprehended the young man at the Stanislaus County Juvenile Detention Center, where he was already in custody for an unrelated offence. The suspect was rebooked on charges of murder and attempted murder, bringing a sliver of closure to the grieving family of Dominic.
