Visakhapatnam: A tragic incident has unfolded in Kyrgyzstan where a young medical student from Andhra Pradesh lost his life after getting trapped at a frozen waterfall. The student, identified as Dasari Chandu, aged 20, hailed from the Anakapalli district and was pursuing his MBBS degree at a university in Kyrgyzstan.

Reports indicate that Chandu, along with his fellow students, visited a waterfall on a leisure trip following the conclusion of their exams at the university. Tragedy struck when Chandu ventured into the frozen waterfall and became trapped in the ice, ultimately leading to his untimely demise. His lifeless body was later recovered from the icy waters of the waterfall.

Chandu, the second son of Bhima Raju, a halwa seller in Andhra Pradesh, has left his family grieving over the sudden loss. In a heartfelt plea, his family has urged the Indian government to facilitate the repatriation of his mortal remains from Kyrgyzstan. Anakapalli MP B Venkata Satyavathi has also raised this poignant issue with Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G Kishan Reddy.

The Union Minister has taken swift action by liaising with officials at the Indian embassy in Kyrgyzstan, seeking their assistance in the repatriation process of Chandu’s remains back to India, as confirmed by Satyavathi.
