Early on Monday morning, a devastating road accident near Kondalampatty in Salem city resulted in the untimely deaths of two individuals. The victims have been identified as T Manikandan, a 26-year-old resident of Palayakkaranur, and his relative S Gowtham Kumar, a 16-year-old student from Valaiyakkaranur. Manikandan was employed at a silver jewellery manufacturing unit, while Gowtham Kumar was a student in Class X.
The fatal incident occurred around 3 am as Manikandan, Gowtham Kumar, and their relative M Sundaram, 28, were travelling to Sankari in a sport utility vehicle. Tragically, Sundaram lost control of the vehicle at Kondalampatty roundana, causing a collision with a container truck. The impact caused the SUV to hit the roundana and overturn, leading to the immediate deaths of Manikandan and Gowtham Kumar. Sundaram sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
The local authorities at Kondalampatty police have initiated an investigation into the incident and have registered a case to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.
