In a devastating turn of events, a wall of a crematorium in Gurgaon collapsed on Saturday, resulting in the tragic loss of four lives and leaving two others injured. The incident occurred around 6.30 pm near the Arjun Nagar police post, sending shockwaves through the community.

Details of the Incident

According to the police, the victims of the collapse included four men who were sitting near the wall and two children who were walking past at the time of the incident. All six individuals were trapped under the debris and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Tragically, four of them succumbed to their injuries, while the remaining two are currently receiving medical care.

Victims Identified

The deceased have been identified as Tanya, an 11-year-old resident of Veer Nagar; Devi Dayal alias Pappu, aged 70; Manoj Gaba, aged 54; and Krishna Kumar, aged 52, all residents of Arjun Nagar. Additionally, one of the injured individuals has been identified as Deepa Pradhan, also a resident of Arjun Nagar.

Poor Construction Blamed

Authorities have attributed the tragic incident to poor construction of the wall, which was made of concrete and wood. An FIR is set to be registered against the management of the shamshan ghat responsible for the crematorium, highlighting the need for stricter adherence to safety regulations in construction projects.

The community is reeling from the loss of four lives in this preventable tragedy, underscoring the importance of ensuring the structural integrity of public spaces for the safety of all residents.
