A teenager was shot near Preble High School on Green Bay’s east side on Wednesday afternoon, prompting a lockdown at both Preble High School and Edison Middle School. The shooting occurred around 2:30 p.m. in the area of University Avenue and Cass Street.

The victim, a 16-year-old male, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not released any information about a suspect or motive for the shooting.

Following the incident, both Preble High School and Edison Middle School were placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure. Students and staff were advised to stay in their classrooms until the situation was resolved.

Parents were notified of the lockdown and were instructed to avoid the area around the schools. Police officers were dispatched to the scene to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The lockdown was lifted around 4:30 p.m. after police determined that there was no longer a threat to the schools. Classes are expected to resume as normal on Thursday.
