The lifeless body of a man who had been missing since March 28 was discovered in the waters of river Jhelum in the serene town of Sopore, nestled in the picturesque Baramulla district in the early hours of Saturday morning, according to officials.
An official, speaking to the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO), revealed that the man had gone missing from his residence in the peaceful Mapanpora area.
Locals spotted the body floating in the gentle currents of the Jhelum river and promptly alerted the authorities.
“A police team swiftly responded to the call and successfully recovered the body, which was then transferred to a nearby hospital for necessary medico-legal procedures,” the official stated.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Maqbool Mir, aged 70, hailing from the serene neighbourhood of Mapanpora in Sopore.
