Parkersburg, West Virginia: Two Arrested After Foot and Vehicle Pursuit

In the quiet town of Parkersburg, West Virginia, a dramatic incident unfolded in the early hours of Friday morning, resulting in the arrest of two individuals after a tense foot and vehicle pursuit.

The Chase Begins

It all started just before 7 p.m. on Thursday when authorities received a tip-off about a man named Brandon Burton, wanted for a felony bond revocation for third-degree sexual assault, who was believed to be armed. The Parkersburg Police Department sprang into action, locating Burton in a vehicle near 29th Street and Harrison Avenue.

When officers attempted to approach him, Burton made a daring escape on foot, leading to a frantic pursuit through the winding streets and neighborhoods of the north end, eventually ending up in Johnson T. Janes Park.

The Hunt Intensifies

As Burton disappeared from sight after crossing Worthington Creek, a large-scale search operation was launched, involving multiple law enforcement agencies including the Parkersburg Police Department, Wood County Sheriff’s Office, and West Virginia State Police. Hours later, Burton’s abandoned vehicle was discovered in the Dry Run Road and Red Hill Road area.

In the early hours of the morning, officers spotted Burton’s vehicle on the move once again, leading them on a high-speed chase along WV Rt. 50 and onto northbound I-77. After a tense pursuit spanning three miles, Burton finally pulled over just past mile marker 184.

The Arrest

Upon apprehension, Burton proved to be uncooperative, forcing officers to physically remove him from the vehicle. Despite his resistance, he was eventually subdued and taken into custody. To add to the drama, Burton’s girlfriend, Ryann Eddy, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was also arrested for her involvement in aiding Burton’s escape.

Burton now faces charges for the felony bond revocation, fleeing from officers on foot, and fleeing from officers in a vehicle, while Eddy has been charged as an accessory to a crime after the fact. Burton has been remanded to North Central Regional Jail on a $3,000 bond, while Eddy was released on a $12,000 bond.

This gripping saga serves as a reminder of the dedication and bravery of law enforcement officers in ensuring the safety and security of our communities.
