The footage captured the accused person entering the residence of the complainant through a window and emerging with a safe containing an unspecified amount of money and some jewelry.

On the 11th of December, 2023, the Police CID received a report to the effect that complainant, Margaret Alice Shaw residing at Alexander Nest, Ridge, Accra had been robbed.

On receipt of the complaint, a team of police personnel was dispatched to the crime scene but on their arrival, the accused person had fled. The complainant told the police that the accused person pointed a pistol at her and her house help and demanded money and other valuables.

The accused person succeeded in robbing the complainant of a Rolex wristwatch valued at Seventy Thousand United States Dollars ($70,000.00USD), a Panerai wristwatch valued at Fifteen Thousand United States Dollars ($15,000.00USD) belonging to David Adjaye, a Cartier jewelry valued at Fifteen Thousand United States Dollars ($15,000.00USD) belonging to Asheley Shaw Scott and an unspecified amount of money in both Ghana Cedis and United States Dollars.

On the 15th of December, 2023, the accused person was apprehended at Kasoa and was sent to the Police Headquarters.

During interrogation at the Police Headquarters, the accused person admitted to the offenses of robbery but denied that he was the person captured in the CCTV footages.

Further investigations led to the discovery of properties acquired by the accused person through his criminal activities.

The accused person had been charged with the offense of robbery and was scheduled to appear before court on the 20th of December, 2023.

The Police CID is urging members of the public who may have fallen victim to similar robberies to come forward with any information that may assist in their investigations.

The Police also advised members of the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

Yahuza Osumanu is currently in police custody awaiting trial.

The Accused Person Identified in CCTV Footage

In a recent incident at Ridge, an affluent neighbourhood in Accra, Ghana, the accused person was identified in CCTV footage as Yahuza Osumanu. Osumanu had been on the police radar for his involvement in a series of residential robberies at Cantonments, Airport Residential Area, Ridge, and Tesano.

Robbery Incident at Ridge

On the 11th of December 2023, the Papa 51 police patrol team received information about a robbery incident at Ridge. The patrol team proceeded to the crime scene where they met the complainant Margaret Alice Shaw. Shaw recounted how the accused person entered her room, pointed a gun at her, and demanded money and valuables.

Valuables Stolen

During the robbery, the accused person made away with a Rolex watch valued at $70,000, a Panerai watch valued at $15,000 belonging to David Adjaye, jewelleries valued at $15,000 belonging to Asheley Shaw Scott, and cash amounting to GHC1,500.

Crime Scene Investigation

The police conducted an initial assessment of the crime scene and discovered that the accused person gained entry through an unlocked window in the kitchen. They collected evidence, took photographs, and reviewed CCTV footage from the premises.

Search for the Accused

On the 12th of December 2023, the police received information that the accused person was hiding at Dome Pillar 2. Despite not finding him there, they arrested John Dela Sarbah, who led them to the accused’s hideout at Tantra Hill.

Arrest of the Accused

On the 15th of December 2023, the police apprehended Yahuza Osumanu in Kasoa. During interrogation, he confessed to the robberies and led the police to the various crime scenes. Investigations have revealed that the accused has acquired several properties through his illegal activities.
