Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A horrific discovery was made near Del Rio, Texas, when a badly mangled body was found after being struck by a train on Tuesday. The victim has been identified as an active-duty airman from Laughlin Air Force Base. The incident occurred in the early morning hours, prompting a swift response from multiple law enforcement agencies in the area just west of Del Rio, approximately 20 miles from the airbase.

Initially, there was speculation that the deceased individual may have been a migrant due to the proximity to the border. However, further investigation revealed that the victim was, in fact, an active-duty airman stationed at Laughlin Air Force Base. This tragic incident has deeply affected the local community and the military personnel at the base.

In a press statement released by U.S. Air Force officials, it was confirmed that the Val Verde County Sheriff’s Office informed Laughlin Air Force Base security forces about the discovery of the body near the railway tracks off base. The identity of the airman has been withheld until the next of kin has been notified, as per military protocol.

Colonel Kevin A. Davidson, the commander of the 47th Flying Training Wing at Laughlin Air Force Base, expressed his condolences, saying, “We tragically lost a member of our Air Force and Laughlin family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all those who knew him. Our priority now is to provide support to the grieving loved ones during this difficult time.”

The investigation into the cause of death is ongoing, with the Val Verde County Sheriff’s Office leading the efforts to determine the circumstances surrounding the airman’s tragic demise. The community is coming together to mourn the loss of one of their own.

Laughlin Air Force Base is a vital part of the Air Force’s training operations, housing the 47th Flying Training Wing and the 96th Flying Training Squadron of the Air Force Reserve. Located just southeast of Del Rio, the base has been in operation since 1943 and plays a crucial role in preparing future pilots for service.
