The Tragic Incident at KLE Technological University in Hubballi
On a seemingly normal Thursday afternoon, tragedy struck at the BVB campus of KLE Technological University in Hubballi, Karnataka. A 24-year-old MCA student, Neha Hiremath, fell victim to a heinous crime committed by a stalker who aggressively attacked her on the premises of the supposedly ‘well-guarded’ campus.
The Horrific Attack
Neha, who was the daughter of Congress corporator Niranjan Hiremath, had been recovering from typhoid and had returned to college after a two-month absence to take an exam. Little did she know that this routine visit would turn into a nightmare. As she left the examination room, she was ambushed by Fayaz Kondikoppa, a boy from Savadatti in Belagavi district.
Armed with a knife, Kondikoppa relentlessly stabbed Neha in the back and neck, causing her to collapse in a pool of blood. The time of the brutal attack was reported to be 4:45 pm, according to the Times of India.
A Tragic End to a Young Life
Despite the efforts to rush Neha to KIMS Hospital, she succumbed to her injuries on the way. The entire campus was left in shock and disbelief at the senseless act of violence that had unfolded in their midst.
The police were quick to apprehend Kondikoppa, who had attempted to flee the scene but was captured by vigilant students and staff. It was revealed that Neha’s parents had warned the boy several months prior to stay away from their daughter, as they were concerned about his intentions towards her.
Campus Security Measures
In response to the tragic incident, Dr Ashok Shettar, the Vice-Chancellor of KLE Technological University, reassured the public that the campus is always “well-guarded” with stringent security measures in place. However, he acknowledged the need to further enhance security protocols to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
Dr Shettar urged students and parents to promptly report any concerns related to the safety and well-being of students on campus. The community was urged to come together and support each other during this difficult time, as they grappled with the loss of a promising young student.
In conclusion, the heartbreaking tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and proactive measures to ensure the safety of individuals within educational institutions.
