Law enforcement officers swiftly responded to the scene after receiving a ShotSpotter notification, only to discover Sterling with a critical gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention but, unfortunately, could not be saved.

Following the incident, the Bridgeport Police Department’s Detective Bureau took charge of the case, securing a significant crime scene stretch from Laurel Avenue to Wood Avenue on Park Avenue. Various pieces of evidence were collected as part of the ongoing investigation.
