A Bizarre Incident Unfolds in Rio de Janeiro

In a truly bizarre turn of events, a Brazilian woman shocked onlookers as she nonchalantly wheeled a deceased man into a bank in Rio de Janeiro with the intention of having him co-sign a loan for her.

The woman, identified as Erika de Souza Vieira Nunes, was captured on bank surveillance cameras attempting to conduct this strange transaction with the lifeless body of Paulo Roberto Braga, as reported by The Daily Beast.

A Shocking Scene Caught on Camera

Footage from the bank shows Nunes addressing the deceased man as her uncle, urging him to sign the loan documents amounting to approximately $3,400 (equivalent to R64,000).

Nunes can be heard imploring the deceased man, “Uncle, are you listening? You need to sign. If you don’t sign, there’s no way, because I can’t sign for you,” while attempting to place a pen in his lifeless hand.

“Sign so you don’t give me any more headaches, I can’t take it anymore,” she adds.

A Strange Interaction Unfolds

Despite concerns raised by bank staff about the man’s appearance and well-being, Nunes dismissed them, claiming that the man was merely unwell and unresponsive.

Legal Ramifications and Investigation

Law enforcement was promptly summoned to the bank, leading to Nunes’ arrest. It was later determined that Paulo had already passed away several hours before being brought to the bank.

Nunes now faces potential charges of fraud, embezzlement, and abuse of a corpse. An ongoing investigation seeks to uncover the circumstances surrounding Braga’s death, Nunes’ relationship to him, and if there are any accomplices involved in the attempted loan fraud.

Her legal team maintains that Paulo’s demise occurred while inside the bank premises.
