Investigation Underway Into Deceased Infant Found in Lawrence County Home
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into the tragic discovery of a deceased infant in a home located at 81 Township Road 349 in Lawrence County, Ohio. Deputies were alerted to the distressing situation on Wednesday when they were informed that a fetus had been found on the premises.
The mother of the deceased child has been identified as 38-year-old Carrie Copley, a resident of South Point. Earlier in the day, Copley had been taken to the hospital for reasons unknown. As the investigation unfolded, deputies spoke with Copley and subsequently took her into custody. She now faces charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
