A 41-year-old man from Los Angeles has been identified as the gunman who opened fire from the roof of a Marina del Rey apartment complex over the weekend, causing panic and terror among residents. The incident took place in the 4100 block of Via Marina, where residents were forced to seek shelter for hours.

Police Response and Arrest

Upon receiving reports of gunshots, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department swiftly responded to the scene. Deputies established a containment of the location and called for additional resources. An LASD air unit spotted the suspect, later identified as Victoryloc Nguyen, firing rounds from a rifle on the roof of the building. SWAT teams, along with armored vehicles, were deployed to handle the situation.

Witnesses reported hearing as many as 100 rounds being fired during the three-hour ordeal. Residents, like Jeff Rubin and his wife, were forced to hide in their bathrooms as the chaos unfolded. The suspect was finally apprehended around 1 a.m. on April 14, without any injuries reported.

Investigation and Motive

Authorities have not yet provided a motive for the shooting. A photograph released by LASD shows the weapons left behind by the suspect, including rifles, a handgun, and tactical gear. Nguyen was booked on charges related to the incident, with bail set at $2 million. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 16.
