Tragic Crash in Anderson County Claims the Life of a 3-Month-Old

In a devastating turn of events, a fatal crash occurred on April 4 on Highway 29 near Welcome Road in Anderson County, South Carolina. The incident, which resulted in the tragic death of a 3-month-old infant and left two others injured, has shaken the local community to its core.

The Details of the Crash

According to reports from South Carolina Highway Patrol, a concrete truck collided with a stationary car on U.S. 29, causing the car to subsequently strike a pickup truck. The impact of the crash was so severe that both the driver and passenger of the car had to be airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Tragically, the passenger in the car, identified as 3-month-old Jakai Govan, succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, as confirmed by the Anderson County Coroner’s Office.

Reckless Driving Leads to Fatal Consequences

The coroner’s investigation revealed that the driver of the concrete truck, Creshuan Dojaun Rainey, was travelling at an excessive speed for the road conditions, resulting in the truck overturning down an embankment. Rainey admitted to authorities that he was distracted by his phone at the time of the crash, highlighting the dangers of distracted driving.

As a result of his negligent actions, Rainey has been charged with reckless homicide resulting in death and two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. Despite the severity of the charges, Rainey was granted a $30,000 bond during his appearance in bond court on Tuesday morning.
