Teen Arrested in Shooting Death of 15-Year-Old in Dover

A tragic incident unfolded in Dover on Sunday evening when a 15-year-old was shot and killed in the city, marking the second homicide of the day. The victim, a young teenager from Dover, was walking in the area of South Governors Avenue and West Reed Street when he was ambushed by a group of individuals.

Dover police responded to the scene around 8:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. The victim, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of his family.

Arrest Made in Connection with the Shooting

Following an investigation, 19-year-old Breshawn Best, also from Dover, was identified as one of the individuals responsible for the shooting. Best was arrested without incident and has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of ammunition by a person prohibited.

He has been remanded to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1,086,000 cash bond.

Second Fatal Shooting in Dover on the Same Day

Tragically, the shooting of the 15-year-old was not the only incident of gun violence in Dover that day. Earlier on Sunday, 25-year-old Syncere Friends was shot and killed near Irish Mike’s on West Loockerman Street. A 30-year-old woman was also injured in the shooting but survived.

These back-to-back tragedies have shaken the community and raised concerns about gun violence in the area.
