The Gruesome Discovery in Encino

In a chilling turn of events, a dismembered torso was discovered in a trash bin in Encino more than four months ago. The victim, Mei Li Haskell, was only 37 years old when her remains were found, sparking a homicide investigation that has shocked the community.

The autopsy report revealed disturbing details about Haskell’s death. While the cause of death has been deferred, the medical examiner’s report indicated that she may have still been alive when she was killed. The report listed the absence of Haskell’s head, neck, and extremities, with the amputation sites showing signs of a sharp power tool being used.

Haskell’s husband, Samuel Bond Haskell, has been charged with her murder, as well as the killings of her parents, who are still missing. Samuel Haskell pleaded not guilty to the charges in January and is currently being held without bail. If convicted, he could face life in prison without the possibility of parole due to the special circumstance allegation of multiple murders.

The gruesome nature of the crime has left the community reeling. The victims, who resided in a Tarzana home with Samuel Haskell and their three children, were last seen in early November. Samuel Haskell allegedly hired day laborers to remove heavy black trash bags from the home, leading to the shocking discovery of body parts. District Attorney George Gascón expressed solidarity with the victims’ loved ones and vowed to seek justice in this devastating case.

As the investigation continues, the community remains on edge, grappling with the horror of such a heinous crime occurring in their midst. The search for answers and closure for the victims’ families presses on, as authorities work diligently to bring those responsible to justice.
