Accident – Death – Obituary News : Coimbatore: A 64-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for murdering his paramour over a dispute at Madukkarai late on Friday night. The incident has shocked the community and raised concerns about the prevalence of domestic violence.
The arrested individual, identified as A Petchimuthu of Arisipalayam near Madukkarai, had separated from his wife and children two years ago. He had later developed a relationship with the victim, S Vasanthakumari, a 41-year-old woman who was working in a private company in the locality. Vasanthakumari was living with her two sons who are studying in Class XII and Class X at a government school, as her husband had passed away 13 years ago.
The tragic incident unfolded on Friday night when an argument erupted between Petchimuthu and Vasanthakumari at his house. In a fit of rage, Petchimuthu attacked Vasanthakumari with a wooden log and a machete, resulting in fatal injuries. Despite the efforts of a neighbor who rushed to the scene upon hearing Vasanthakumari’s cries for help, she succumbed to her injuries at the house.
The suspect was apprehended by the police, who were alerted by the neighbor who discovered Vasanthakumari lying in a pool of blood. The investigation into the case is ongoing, as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
