Accident – Death – Obituary News : In a devastating incident that shook the community, seven suspects, including six teenagers, have pleaded not guilty to the kidnapping and killing of a 16-year-old Arizona boy. The victim, Preston Lord, was brutally beaten in October allegedly over a gold necklace.
The incident took place in Queen Creek, a Phoenix suburb, where police responded to a non-emergency report of a “juvenile disturbance” on October 28. Following this initial call, officers were then sent to another location for a potential crime. Nearly an hour later, they received a call about an assault at the same spot and found Lord severely beaten on the road. Despite administering lifesaving measures, Lord succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on October 30.
According to local news outlet AZ Family, the attack occurred following a Halloween party at a home in Queen Creek. The party, initially meant for the daughter’s friends, took a dark turn when uninvited guests arrived, leading to a tragic altercation.
Months of investigation ensued, with over 200 tips submitted to the police and more than 50 warrants served. Finally, on March 7, a grand jury indicted the seven suspects in connection with Lord’s death. The suspects, charged as adults with first-degree murder and kidnapping, include Dominic Turner, Taylor Reagan Sherman, Treston John Billey, William Owen Hines, Jacob Ryan Meisner, Talan Renner, and Talyn Ray Vigil.
Court documents cited by AZ Family revealed that the attack stemmed from the theft of a gold chain belonging to one of Lord’s friends. The confrontation escalated into violence when Lord and his friends attempted to retrieve the stolen item.
Among the suspects, Talan Renner faced additional scrutiny for allegedly being removed from the area following the incident, with suggestions that his family had financial means to aid in fleeing to Mexico. However, when questioned about this claim, Renner’s family’s attorney dismissed it as misinformation.
