Discovery of Skeletal Remains in Nashville Creek
In a remarkable breakthrough, skeletal remains discovered in a Nashville creek over seven years ago have finally been identified through DNA testing. The remains were found in October 2016 by a volunteer crew cleaning debris in Browns Creek, located along Church Street Park in Nashville, Tennessee.
Collaboration with DNASolves
Upon the discovery of the remains, the Metro Nashville Police Department responded to the scene and found additional remains scattered throughout the creek. Despite an investigation, the identity of the individual remained unknown, leading to the case going cold. The man was later referred to as “Browns Creek John Doe.”
Partnership with Othram
In a renewed effort to solve the mystery, Nashville authorities joined forces with Othram, a company specializing in advanced DNA testing and forensic-grade genome sequencing. The remains were sent to Texas, where scientists extracted DNA evidence and conducted Forensic-Grade Genome Sequencing to create a detailed genealogical profile of the unknown man.
Identification of Kinloch Wilkinson Jr.
The genealogical profile generated from the DNA data led investigators to relatives of the unidentified man. Through DNA reference testing, the man was identified as Kinloch Wilkinson Jr., born in December 1959. Despite the passage of over a decade without contact, Kinloch was dearly missed by his family, who were relieved to finally have closure.
