Teenager and Man Killed in Separate Shootings in Washington D.C.
Two tragic incidents in Washington D.C. have left a 17-year-old teenager and a 51-year-old man dead in separate shootings that occurred in the month of February. The incidents, which took place in different parts of the city, have resulted in arrests being made in connection with the crimes.
Arrest Made in Death of 17-Year-Old Jabari Malloy
Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of 17-year-old Jabari Malloy in Northwest Washington. The teenager was found shot in an alley near his home in the border area between Park View and Columbia Heights. The suspect, identified as Rico Antjuan Parker, 42, of Southeast, has been charged with first-degree murder while armed in connection with the incident.
According to reports, Malloy had spent the day with a family acquaintance before he was shot. The suspect initially denied involvement in the crime but surveillance footage placed a vehicle resembling Parker’s near the scene of the killing. Malloy’s aunt, Sadelaraye Malloy, expressed shock at the suspect’s identity and stated that her nephew had a promising future ahead of him.
Arrest Made in Shooting of 51-Year-Old David Coe
In a separate incident, police have arrested 24-year-old Kyree Hairston of Southeast in connection with the shooting death of 51-year-old David Coe. Coe was found fatally shot near an apartment building in the 1200 block of Southern Avenue SE. Surveillance footage captured an argument between Coe and Hairston, which escalated into violence resulting in Coe’s death.
Coe’s sister, Brenda Coe, described her brother as a quiet individual who had worked in construction and had no children. Hairston has been charged with first-degree murder and was ordered detained by a D.C. Superior Court judge.
These incidents have shocked the local community and raised concerns about gun violence in the city. Authorities are continuing their investigations to determine the motives behind these tragic events and to ensure justice is served for the victims and their families.
