The arrest of Dejaune Anderson, the mother of Cairo Jordan, took place in a Los Angeles suburb after a two-year pursuit by law enforcement. The Indiana State Police detective who cracked the case received crucial information from a concerned citizen, ultimately leading to Anderson’s capture in California as she attempted to board a train.

Charges and Investigation Details

Anderson faces grave charges including Murder, Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Death (Level 1 Felony), and Obstruction of Justice (Level 6 Felony) in connection with Cairo Jordan’s tragic demise.

The investigation into this harrowing case commenced in April of 2022 when a local resident stumbled upon a suitcase in the dense forests of rural Washington County. Inside the suitcase lay the lifeless body of 5-year-old Cairo Jordan, sparking a statewide manhunt for those responsible.

Dawn Coleman, a confidante of DeJuane Anderson, was also implicated in the heinous crime, accused of aiding in the disposal of Cairo Jordan’s body. Coleman faced charges of aiding, inducing, or causing murder, neglect of a dependent resulting in death, and obstruction of justice.

According to court documents, Coleman revealed that she had watched over Cairo while Anderson was incarcerated in Louisville for unrelated offenses. Upon Anderson’s release, the two individuals transported Cairo’s body to Washington County and abandoned it in the forest.

After 2 years on the run, the mother of Cairo Jordan, whose body was found in a suitcase in Washington County in 2022, has been arrested.

Authorities were able to track the movements of Anderson and Coleman through their mobile phones, leading them to the vicinity of Cairo’s final resting place in Pekin, Indiana. Surveillance footage corroborated the duo’s presence at the scene where Cairo’s body was discovered.

Coleman divulged to law enforcement officials that Anderson harbored delusional beliefs about Cairo being possessed by malevolent entities, even going as far as seeking exorcisms for her son. These chilling revelations added a layer of complexity to an already tragic narrative.

As justice unfolds in this distressing case, closure is sought for the memory of young Cairo Jordan, whose life was cut short in a manner that defies comprehension. The arrest of Dejaune Anderson represents a step towards accountability and closure for a community left reeling by this senseless act of violence.
