A San Diego police officer was taken into custody this week on suspicion of domestic violence, according to the department’s announcement on Friday.

The incident took place on Pacific Highway, just south of West Grape Street, in the vibrant Little Italy neighbourhood of San Diego at around 8 p.m. on Monday. This area is located merely a block northeast of the County Administration Building.

Upon receiving a report of a domestic violence disturbance, San Diego police officers promptly responded to the scene. Following an investigation, the officers arrested one of their own, Officer Seth Tate from the Central Division, on charges of domestic violence.

Lieutenant Daniel Meyers stated, “The San Diego Police Department treats such incidents with the utmost seriousness.” Tate, a 32-year-old officer with nearly three years of service, was placed in custody on suspicion of domestic violence.

Officer Tate has been placed on administrative leave while both a criminal and administrative investigation is conducted to determine the outcome of the case. The department is committed to ensuring that justice is served and maintaining the integrity of the law enforcement profession.
