A tragic incident unfolded in Quitman, Georgia, resulting in the arrest of a 27-year-old man in connection to the shooting death of his uncle. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) confirmed that Jonah Kenney faces charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during a crime in what has been classified as a homicide.
Details of the Incident
The incident took place around 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the 1800 block of Blaire Road in Quitman. Brooks County 911 received multiple calls reporting a person shot at the location. When deputies arrived, they found 56-year-old Jed Maichele with gunshot wounds. Maichele was rushed to Brooks County Hospital, where he was tragically pronounced dead.
Arrest and Investigation
Following an investigation, it was determined that Kenney, who is Maichele’s nephew, was involved in the incident. The GBI revealed that Kenney was apprehended by a Georgia State Trooper for unrelated traffic violations in the area. After being interviewed by GBI agents, Kenney was taken into custody and booked into Brooks County Jail.
