On the 3rd of November 2024, the Curry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a trespass and theft at Peter’s Cranberry Farm on Airport Road in Sixes. The incident involved a broken lock on an outdoor fuel tank next to one of the shops on the property over the weekend.

Details of the Incident

It was reported that several hundred dollars’ worth of non-ethanol premium (clear) fuel was stolen at two different times by the same suspect over the weekend. The theft was captured on newly installed surveillance equipment after a previous trespass occurred nearly two weeks prior.

Suspect Identification

Through investigation and leads provided by the public, the potential identity of the suspect was revealed. The victim had posted photographs of the suspect and vehicle on Facebook, which led to the identification of Nicholas Sucec from Coos County as the person suspected in the theft.

Arrest and Charges

A Bandon Police Department Sergeant observed the pickup associated with the theft on the 12th of March 2024. An attempted traffic stop resulted in the driver, identified as Nicholas Sucec, fleeing in a Dodge pickup truck. Sucec was later taken into custody without further incident.

Curry County Deputy Levi Easlon conducted an interview with Sucec, during which admissions were made about the fuel theft at Peter’s Cranberry Farm. Sucec was cited and released for the fuel theft, criminal trespass, and criminal mischief.

Additionally, Sucec was taken into custody by the Bandon Police Department for charges including felony elude, reckless driving, and two valid warrants out of the Coos Bay Police Department for failure to appear.

Overall, the swift action of law enforcement agencies and the cooperation of concerned citizens led to the apprehension of the suspect in this case of theft and trespass at Peter’s Cranberry Farm.
