New Delhi: In a devastating incident that has left the community in shock, a massive fire broke out at a four-storey residential building in Delhi’s Shastri Nagar area in the early hours of Thursday, resulting in the tragic loss of at least four lives, including two young children. The deceased have been identified as Manoj (30), his wife Suman (28), and their two children, aged 3 and 5 years old.

Emergency Response

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Surendra Choudhary reported that the authorities received a distress call at 5:22 a.m. alerting them to a major fire at Gali No.13, near Sarojini Park in Shastri Nagar. In a swift response, local police, four fire tenders, ambulances, and three PCR Vans rushed to the scene to contain the blaze and rescue those trapped inside.

Rescue Efforts

Upon arrival, it was discovered that the fire had originated in the parking area of the residential building, quickly engulfing the entire structure in smoke. Despite the narrow streets hindering access, firefighters bravely navigated the obstacles to reach the site and quell the flames. A thorough search of each floor was conducted, leading to the successful rescue of three men, four women, and two children.

Tragic Loss

Despite the valiant efforts of the emergency responders, the ordeal resulted in a heartbreaking outcome. The rescued individuals were swiftly transported to Hedgewar Hospital, where Manoj, Suman, and their two young children succumbed to their injuries. The community mourns the loss of these precious lives and extends their deepest condolences to the grieving families.
