The Arrest of Fourth Suspect in Connection with Willagillespie Elementary School Shooting

Reports from Eugene, Oregon reveal that a fourth suspect has been apprehended in connection with a shooting incident that took place last month at Willagillespie Elementary School. Kevin Fonseca, a 50-year-old resident of Eugene, was taken into custody on March 13 on charges of second-degree robbery related to the shooting that occurred in the school’s parking lot on February 7.

Details of the Incident

The shooting incident at Willagillespie Elementary School stemmed from a dispute between two vehicles, which escalated into gunfire in the school’s parking lot. The suspects involved in the incident, identified as Alexander Mullins, Isyk Bartlett, and a 17-year-old from Portland, were in one of the vehicles and fled the scene following the shooting. The suspects led the police on a pursuit, culminating in a crash in the area of Royal Avenue.

Investigation Unveils Additional Information

A subsequent search warrant filed in Lane County Circuit Court shed light on Fonseca’s involvement in the incident. The warrant revealed that Fonseca was in the second vehicle implicated in the shooting and had been under investigation for previous drug-related activities, including fentanyl dealing. Detectives found drug-related items in Fonseca’s vehicle, such as baggies, a scale, needles, and white powder residue consistent with fentanyl.

The affidavit also indicated that Fonseca exhibited signs of injury, with gauze on his abdomen and visible discomfort when patted down by an officer. Despite suspicions of gunshot wounds, Fonseca refused to disclose the nature of his injuries, claiming it was a mere spider bite. The extent of his injuries remains unknown.

Legal Ramifications for Other Suspects

Alexander Mullins faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon, eluding an officer, unlawful possession of a firearm, reckless driving, and reckless endangering. Isyk Bartlett was arrested for a parole violation, while the 17-year-old suspect from Portland was charged with attempted first-degree assault, reckless endangering, tampering with evidence, and unlawful purchase of a firearm.

The developments in the case highlight the ongoing investigation into the shooting incident at Willagillespie Elementary School and the legal consequences faced by the individuals involved.
