Former WWE Star Allegedly Faces Career Setback After Rejecting Hugh Hefner

Ashley Massaro, a former WWE star, reportedly experienced a significant career setback after rejecting advances from Hugh Hefner, the founder of Playboy. According to Massaro’s friend Cara Pipia, the decision to turn down Hefner’s advances resulted in Massaro being treated like an outcast upon her return from a Playboy Mansion shoot.

Allegations of Misconduct Within WWE

Upon her return to work, Massaro allegedly faced inappropriate behavior from WWE co-founder Vince McMahon, who reportedly made demeaning and sexual comments towards her. Pipia revealed that Massaro felt pressured to comply with certain expectations in order to advance her career, including posing for Playboy and participating in reality TV shows like Survivor.

Tragic Death and Allegations of Cover-Up

In 2019, Massaro tragically died by suicide after accusing McMahon of covering up an alleged rape that occurred in 2006 on a military base. Despite Massaro’s claims, WWE denied any knowledge of the incident. Pipia shared that Massaro confided in her about the traumatic experience, stating that Massaro believed she had been raped multiple times and struggled to stay conscious during the assaults.

Federal Investigation and Lawsuit

Currently, federal authorities are investigating sexual assault and trafficking allegations against McMahon. Janel Grant, a former WWE employee, filed a federal lawsuit accusing McMahon of sexual exploitation and attempting to traffic her to other employees. The lawsuit also implicates WWE President Nick Khan and COO Brad Blum in covering up exploitation within the company.

Implications for WWE

McMahon resigned as executive chairman of WWE parent TKO Group following the filing of the lawsuit by Grant. The lawsuit alleges that McMahon, Khan, Blum, and others within the company facilitated and covered up exploitation, potentially making WWE liable under federal anti-trafficking laws.
