Man Fatally Shot at Storage Unit Business in Northwest Aurora

A 26-year-old man from Aurora tragically lost his life after being shot by the manager of a storage unit business in northwest Aurora. The incident took place at a storage facility located in the 14700 block of East 40th Avenue on March 13 at around 4:30 p.m.

Location of the Incident

The storage business is situated between the junctions of Interstate 70 and Chambers Road, as well as Interstate 70 and Interstate 225. It is a bustling area with various commercial establishments and residential neighborhoods.

Upon receiving a call from the business’s manager reporting the shooting, Aurora Police Department officers rushed to the scene. They discovered the victim, a 26-year-old Aurora man, with a gunshot wound. Despite their best efforts to save him, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Adams County Coroner will release the identity of the victim.

Suspect in Custody

The alleged shooter, identified as 24-year-old Joaquin Enrique Cabral-Favela from Denver, was immediately taken into custody for questioning. He has been arrested on a charge of second-degree murder and is currently being held at the Aurora Jail.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were called in to process the scene. A firearm believed to be involved in the incident was recovered and secured as evidence.
