Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The shocking incident that occurred at Hope Island Shopping Centre on the Gold Coast has left the community in disbelief. The young man accused of murdering an alleged drug dealer while attempting to rob him has been identified as Haedyn Patrick Zachary Rawson, a 23-year-old graduate of Queensland’s prestigious Ipswich Grammar School.

Details of the Incident

Rawson has been charged with the stabbing murder of 21-year-old Will Swinbourne during an altercation at the shopping centre carpark. The two men had reportedly met at a UK DJ’s show on the Gold Coast the weekend before the tragic event.

After the stabbing, Rawson allegedly fled the scene, prompting a massive police search in the area. He was eventually found hiding in a townhouse under construction, bringing the intense manhunt to an end.

The Victims

Both Rawson and Swinbourne had very limited criminal histories, according to Detective Inspector Mark Mooney. He described the situation as devastating for the families of both men involved, as one life was lost and another potentially facing a long prison sentence.

Police believe that Swinbourne had gone to the carpark to supply drugs to Rawson, who hails from the Ipswich suburb of Redbank Plains. The incident is believed to have stemmed from a robbery or attempted robbery that ended in a fatal stabbing.

Legal Proceedings

Rawson appeared in Southport Magistrates Court dressed in a prison-issued green jumpsuit. His case was adjourned to March 26 as the legal process unfolds.

The community is reeling from the tragic events that unfolded at the Hope Island Shopping Centre, with many expressing shock and sadness over the loss of a young life in such a senseless act of violence.
