Second Suspect Arrested in Fairmount Park Double Homicide Case

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A second suspect has been arrested in connection to a February “execution-style” double homicide in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park section. Police said Wednesday that she has turned herself in.

Following the arrest of the first suspect, Lamar Young, police announced the arrest of a second individual linked to the brutal crime. The person’s identity has not been disclosed by authorities.

The double murder took place on February 29 in Fairmount Park. The victims, identified as 49-year-old Thurston Cooper and 38-year-old Krystina Chambers, were found shot in an “execution-style” manner near Mount Pleasant Drive.

Local authorities were alerted to the crime scene shortly after 11 p.m. Upon arrival, police discovered Cooper and Chambers lying lifeless on the side of the road. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, with gunshot wounds to their heads and chests.

The Fairmount Park area, where the tragic incident occurred, is home to the historic Mount Pleasant Mansion. Once owned by Benedict Arnold, the mansion was closed to the public last year.

Investigations into the motive behind the double homicide are ongoing, as police work to piece together the events leading up to the fatal shooting. The community remains shocked by the senseless violence that took place in their neighborhood.

With the arrest of the second suspect, authorities are hopeful that justice will be served for Cooper and Chambers, bringing closure to their families and loved ones.
