A devastating accident in Lake Barrington, Illinois has left the community in mourning after 53-year-old Karen Flintz of Schaumburg lost her life in a tragic collision. The Lake County Coroner’s Office has identified Flintz as the victim of the fatal crash, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Route 59 and Miller Road.
Details of the Accident
According to preliminary reports, the accident involved multiple vehicles, including a Hyundai sedan, a 2016 Freightliner semi-truck, and a Lincoln sports utility vehicle. The Hyundai, driven by Flintz, was traveling north on Route 59 when it crossed into the southbound lanes and collided with the semi-trailer of the semi-truck. The impact then caused the Hyundai to strike the oncoming Lincoln SUV, driven by a 46-year-old man from Cary.
Tragically, Flintz sustained fatal blunt force injuries from the collision and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The drivers of the other vehicles involved in the accident suffered minor injuries and are expected to recover.
Investigation Ongoing
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and MCAT are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine the cause of the tragic incident. Authorities are working diligently to gather evidence and piece together the events leading up to the collision in order to provide closure to the families affected by this heartbreaking loss.
