Accident – Death – Obituary News :

It was a grim day in the upscale Nepean Sea Road area of Mumbai, as a 63-year-old woman named Jyoti Shah was tragically strangled to death inside her own apartment. The incident took place at Tahnee Heights, where Shah lived with her husband Mukesh, who owns a jewellery showroom in a five-star hotel in south Mumbai. The couple’s daughter was not at home at the time of the incident, as she had left with her father for work.

The Arrest of the Suspect

The Malabar Hill police swiftly sprung into action and managed to track down the alleged perpetrator, identified as 19-year-old Kanhaiya Kumar Sanjay Pandit. Originally hailing from the Sitamarhi district of Bihar, Pandit was apprehended at Bhusawal railway station in Jalgaon district with the assistance of the government railway police (GRP). It is believed that Pandit was attempting to flee to his native village when he was caught.

The Gruesome Murder

According to the police, CCTV footage from the apartment building revealed chilling details of the murder. Shah and Pandit were seen going about their daily routines, with Pandit assisting Shah in the kitchen. At around 2 pm, Shah retired to her bedroom for a nap, only to be followed by Pandit, who then proceeded to strangle her.

After committing the heinous act, Pandit changed his clothes, gathered his belongings, and left the premises. He was captured on camera waiting in the corridor before making his escape. The police suspect that the motive behind the murder may have been an attempted theft, as diamond bangles worn by Shah were reported missing from her body.

The Investigation and Outcome

The police have launched a thorough investigation into the case, registering a complaint of murder against Pandit. They are also considering adding theft charges based on the missing valuables. It has been revealed that Pandit had previously worked in two other households within the same building, having been introduced to Shah through another servant and his father.

Meanwhile, Shah’s body underwent a postmortem examination, confirming the cause of death as strangulation. The autopsy report was released early on Wednesday, following which the remains were handed over to the family.

Next Steps

As the investigation continues, the police are focused on interrogating Pandit to ascertain the motive behind the brutal murder. They are determined to uncover the full extent of the crime and ensure that justice is served for the senseless loss of Jyoti Shah’s life.
