Gunshots Fired in Clintonville Lead to Felony Charges for Two Men

Recently, the quiet town of Clintonville was shaken by a disturbing incident involving gunfire. Two men, Austin S. Dismuke, a 20-year-old from Menasha, and Ashton R. Tody, a 21-year-old Clintonville resident, are now facing serious felony charges in connection with the shooting.

Details of the Incident

The incident took place on a Friday evening around 5 p.m. in the vicinity of Anne and 15th streets in Clintonville. Authorities were alerted to the sound of gunshots in the area, prompting a rapid response from the local police department.

According to witness accounts, a heated argument between three individuals escalated into gunfire outside Christus Lutheran Church on Anne Street. The situation quickly spiraled out of control as one of the men involved brandished a gun and began firing shots. In the chaos that ensued, all three men fled the scene, leaving bystanders in shock.

Police Investigation and Arrests

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers, including Clintonville Police Officer Anthony Arrieta and Sgt. Matthew Wright, sprang into action to investigate the shooting. Witnesses provided crucial information that led to the identification of two suspects, Dismuke and Tody.

Sgt. Wright visited Tody’s residence on Anne Street to question him about the incident. Meanwhile, Marion Police Officer Greg Dey collected physical evidence from the scene, including spent bullet casings, to piece together what transpired that fateful evening.

Vehicle and Firearm Recovered

An important breakthrough in the case came when a witness identified a vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting. Through diligent police work, the vehicle was traced back to Dismuke’s girlfriend, linking him to the crime scene.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Dismuke at his home in Menasha, where officers recovered a 9mm handgun allegedly used in the shooting. Dismuke’s girlfriend and another witness provided crucial testimony that corroborated the events of that evening.

Legal Ramifications

As the legal process unfolds, Dismuke faces multiple charges, including reckless endangerment and carrying a concealed weapon, while Tody is charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. Both men were released on $1,000 signature bonds, pending further legal proceedings.

The community of Clintonville remains on edge following this harrowing incident, underscoring the importance of addressing gun violence and ensuring public safety in our neighborhoods.
