The Tragic Incident in Cheyenne, Wyoming

In a heartbreaking turn of events, three Cheyenne police officers have been placed on administrative leave following the death of a suspect in an armed domestic violence call on Friday evening. The incident took place in a residential area near the 5200 block of Fishing Bridge in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Response to the Armed Domestic Violence Call

The Cheyenne Police Department received reports of an armed domestic disturbance at a residence in the area around 6:18 p.m. on Friday, March 8. Dispatch relayed that the suspect was firing a firearm and his wife was heard screaming inside the house. Responding officers quickly arrived at the scene to assess the situation.

Confrontation with the Suspect

Upon arrival, officers approached the front door and made multiple announcements, instructing the occupants to exit the premises. Unfortunately, there was no response from inside the house. A woman’s cry for help could be heard from within, prompting the officers to take immediate action. They breached the front door and were met by the suspect, who was actively firing his weapon. In the heat of the moment, the officers were forced to return fire in self-defence.

The suspect was later identified as 47-year-old Cheyenne resident, Patrick Flores. The situation escalated quickly, leading to a tragic outcome that has left the community in shock.

Investigation Handover to Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigations
