Tragic Fatal Crash in Federalsburg, Maryland

On a Monday morning in Federalsburg, Maryland, tragedy struck as a fatal three-vehicle crash claimed the lives of two individuals. The victims, Lavonne Bratcher, 55, and Vincent Bratcher, 56, both residents of Hurlock, Maryland, were pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical services personnel from Caroline County.

Details of the Incident

The crash involved a Jeep driven by Christopher McMullen, 31, of Federalsburg, Maryland, as well as a GMC. Both McMullen and a passenger in the Jeep, along with the operator of the GMC, were transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton for treatment of their injuries.

According to the Maryland State Police (MSP), the incident occurred shortly before 7:00 a.m. on Maryland Route 313 (Federalsburg Highway), north of Laurel Grove Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Mazda, driven by Lavonne Bratcher, was attempting to make a left turn onto Laurel Grove Road when a Jeep collided with the rear of the Mazda, causing it to be hit by a GMC.

Road Closure and Investigation

As a result of the crash, Route 313 was closed for more than three and a half hours to facilitate the investigation by the Maryland State Police Crash Team. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be submitted to the Caroline County State’s Attorney’s Office for a decision on potential charges.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and MSP is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing probe.
