Tragic Crash Claims Two Lives in Waller County, Texas

Two people tragically lost their lives, and two others sustained injuries in a devastating crash that occurred in Waller County, Texas, on Tuesday morning. The incident, which took place at approximately 9 a.m., unfolded on Highway 6 at FM 2979, leaving a community in mourning.

Details of the Accident

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision occurred when a driver in a Toyota failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign on FM 2979. The driver, identified as 38-year-old Jamie Kmiec from Hemstead, collided with a Chevrolet travelling northbound on Highway 6, causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times.

Tragically, two passengers in the Chevrolet, identified as 31-year-old Henry Rodriguez and 25-year-old Martir Augusto from Houston, were ejected from the vehicle and lost their lives as a result of the crash. The driver of the Chevrolet, 36-year-old Vallecious Martinez from Houston, was also ejected and sustained serious injuries.

Investigation and Pending Charges

DPS Sgt. Woodard revealed that Jamie Kmiec was transported to Scott and White Hospital in College Station for minor injuries. Charges against Kmiec are still pending as investigators work to determine the full extent of the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

The community is left reeling from the loss of Rodriguez and Augusto, whose lives were cut short in a senseless and preventable tragedy. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging all drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic laws to prevent further heartbreak on the roads.
