Chilling Incident Unfolds in Daytona Beach, Florida

A man wanted for grand theft of a motor vehicle is facing a murder charge after he allegedly pushed a woman out of a pickup truck that police were chasing.

Police Pursuit Leads to Tragic Outcome

Daytona Beach police in Florida found themselves in a high-speed pursuit two weeks ago, on Feb. 27, as they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white GMC pickup truck. The situation quickly escalated as the driver of the truck took evasive action to avoid apprehension.

The arrest report indicated that during the chase, the rear driver side door of the GMC swung open, revealing a horrifying sight. A woman, later identified as Gina Jennings, was forcibly pushed out of the vehicle, causing her to collide with the pavement.

Witnesses Describe Horrifying Scene

According to witness statements, Jennings was seen in distress inside the vehicle, screaming for help as the truck sped away in a reckless manner, endangering the lives of pedestrians and other motorists in the area. The GMC was eventually found abandoned, but the tragic events had already unfolded.

Jennings was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. An autopsy revealed severe internal injuries consistent with blunt force trauma, leading to the conclusion that her death was a result of homicide.

Suspect’s Conflicting Statements

The primary suspect, Julio Angel Rivera, was apprehended on unrelated charges following a motorcycle crash. Rivera initially claimed that Jennings had jumped out of the truck, but his story soon changed, alleging that he had ‘blacked out’ during the incident.

Rivera, along with two accomplices, Michael Doudney and Jeremy First, faced a slew of charges including second-degree murder, grand theft, and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Doudney, the driver of the pickup, was charged with fleeing and eluding, while First was arrested on an unrelated warrant from Orange County.

Justice Seeks Closure

The Daytona Beach community remains shaken by the senseless tragedy that unfolded on their streets. As the legal proceedings unfold, the hope for justice and closure for Gina Jennings and her loved ones looms large.
