Man Killed in Tragic Tree Fall Identified

Scott Quickel has been identified as the man tragically killed in a recent tree fall in South Middleton Township, Gardeners. The Cumberland County Coroner Charles Hall confirmed this heartbreaking news to Daily Voice.

Details of the Incident

The fatal incident occurred at 804 Baltimore Pike/US Route 94 in South Middleton Township in the early hours of March 11. At 3:10 a.m., a tree fell onto a house, causing devastation in its wake. The Cumberland County Emergency Dispatch reported that heavy rains followed by strong winds had loosened the soil, leading to the tree’s collapse.

Three individuals were inside the house when the tree fell. Two managed to escape before emergency crews arrived, but sadly, Scott Quickel was trapped and did not survive. The authorities had to perform an extraction, and the county coroner was called to the scene.

Road Closure and Investigation

As a result of this tragic incident, US Rt. 94 was closed for several hours to allow for emergency response and investigation. The road reopened around 7 a.m., as confirmed by PennDOT. The extent of damage to the home is still unknown at this time.

The Pennsylvania State Police and the county coroner’s office are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tree fall. More details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
